Pokemon Platinum connection error?

I don't know why it happened but I can't play at all anymore. The intro plays fine and everything goes great until I press start at the title screen, where instead of being greeted by my start game screen, I am surprised by a blue screen that says there was a connection error and that If I was in the plaza I would be taken back to where ever I was before and to press A to continue. Pressing A simply makes the screen white and after that I can't do anything but go to dsi's home screen. Any idea what's going on?
