What is an educated way to say "a waste of time"? ( you know to a teacher)?

I am looking for an appropriate way to title an assignment that a teacher has given me that I think wasted an hour of my life. But I am looking for a way to say it tastefully. Is there one word that you can say that means "waste of time"?
