Is Atlanta Job Corps Okay?

I'm a 18 year old male who is looking to make money and get my GED. Ive been hearing so much talk about job corps and my friends and family think its a good thing for me. I had a family member go out of state when he went and they took his shoes in the first week and had a lot of drama going on within just two weeks. I heard they don't want you to bring anything worth money. (Laptops, Games, and so on) So whats the deal on it really? I'm not much of a people person and hate being bothered by others so a lot of room mates is a big problem with me. Is there anything i can do about that? Like have two or three? Tell me about your personal time there and how you felt.
